Beer review: Tree brewing “Serendipity” Whiskey barrel-aged beer
Before you try this beer, sit down, because it packs a punch! At 8.9% alcohol, it is not a refreshing, summer sipper. What it is, though, is a hoppy, chocolatey, well-balanced dark beer. The base for this beer is Tree’s Hop Head Black IPA, so the hops are… apparent, to say the least. These give this dark, malty brew a nice bitter, citrusy counterpoint and the result is a strong beer with exceptional complexity and an unmistakable whiskey note from the barrel treatment. This beer is not for the faint of heart, and will divide opinion, but is well worth a try if you like your beer dark and flavourful.
